Structural Foam Transport Packaging
With a high strength to weight ratio, the structural foam process is ideal for producing large, robust custom transport packaging and dunnage. Typically produced from polypropylene or high density polyethylene, these parts are impact and chemically resistant, and are capable of being molded in a wide array of colors.
The design freedom afforded by the structural foam process allows features that include through holes, assembly bosses, and sidewalls with minimal draft to be easily produced when compared to other thermoplastic molding processes. And the part-to-part repeatability provided by the structural foam process is often better than other processes, making it ideal for applications involving robotic interface.
Additionally, the opportunity to utilize lower cost modular aluminum tooling makes the structural foam process very competitive when compared to the steel tooling usually required for large part injection molding.
