Creative Techniques Supports Launch of New Lithium Ion Battery Plant

October 4th, 2010

We were pleased to have one of our friends share this recent alternative energy success story with us, especially since our company has been integrally involved with the development and launch of this new manufacturing process.

As a manufacturer of custom reusable packaging, we were really excited to be selected as a partner for this project with A123 Systems, and are now delighted to be providing custom engineered automation trays for use in lithium ion battery production.

Designed to interface in a highly automated environment, these high tolerance trays are manufactured from unique engineered thermoplastics and are intended to support cell fabrication and final assembly of lithium ion batteries.

Billed as the largest lithium ion battery plant in North America, A123 Systems has received a $249 million grant from the United States Department of Energy to assist in this launch.

With all the challenges that industrial manufacturing has endured over the past twenty four months, it is inspiring to see this news article, and the manufacturing advances that are being made here in North America.
